Silent he stood in the place of the damned -- Convicted, judged, without cause
It is He who was here before time began -- the sacrificed lamb, eternal "I am"!

If you could see the anguish that was etched into His face as He hung upon the cross to save the human race,
I think that you might realize a love that had no compromise, as He hung condemned for His enemies
to save them from wrath

Haven't you seen Him, haven't you seen Him, haven't you seen Him, Jesus, my Lord?
Haven't you seen Him, haven't you seen Him, haven't you seen Him, Jesus, my Lord?

Can you feel the nails as they are driven through His hands?
Or the crown of thorns . . . or the cross on which He bled?
No sin of His own did He pay for, the innocent blood of this righteous man
was shed for those who deserved to die . . . He died in their sted!

Haven't you seen Him, haven't you seen Him, haven't you seen Him, Jesus, my Lord?
Haven't you seen Him, haven't you seen Him, haven't you seen Him, Jesus, my Lord?

[Note: Had I not been so drawn to the feel of this song I would have let it die years ago. It was written at a time in my life when I was heavily influenced by the concept of finding Jesus "at the foot of the cross" ... as if he could be found in the place he left forever! Now, to know that he suffered as he did is not in question, but some of us have been taught to hang out at the entrance of the doorway as if by constant reflection we might be able to go in for as long as we can keep it in mind. But what Jesus did on the cross is done! It is over! It is finished! The cross is the dividing line between death and new life. Death of the old, life in the new. To know "Jesus Christ and him crucified" is not about rehashing the explicit details of the agony and pain of his sufferings but is to know him in view of the separation brought about by his death. Where do we see Jesus Christ? We see him in the place untouched by human hands. We see him in the new creation. If you are in Christ you are of the new creation in him, which means that we see him in each other.]
