SHOVEL-AUDIO: Original music collections and speaking files by Jim Minker

I offer numerous recordings of the songs I've written and performed from the 1970's to the late 1990's. I have encoded these files in 3 different versions: Lo-Fi , Hi-Fi, and Hi-Fi (best).

  1. The Lo-Fi option is a WMA (Windows Media) file suitable for dial-up to stream.
  2. The Hi-Fi option is also a WMA file streaming at 64kbps (too high for 56k dialup).
  3. The 3rd option is an Ogg Vorbis audio file (OGG), which is a superior, non-patented audio format*.
Below, I have set these songs up so that a whole album will be streamed to your default player when you click the link. Some players already have the plugins to play an OGG file. You can get a plugin for Window Media Player. My current preference is Winamp (link will take you to the "full" version of the free Winamp player which is already set up to play Ogg files).

MUSIC COLLECTION/ALBUM 1 (wma) 2 (wma) 3 (ogg)
The Fire Keeps on Burning (Jim Minker, keyboards, 1995) Lo-Fi Hi-Fi Hi-Fi (best)
Here In Christ Alone (Jim and Sherri, acoustic, 1999) Lo-Fi Hi-Fi Hi-Fi (best)
In Love (Jim Minker, acoustic, 1995) Lo-Fi Hi-Fi Hi-Fi (best)
Flight of Fancy (Minker & Drummond, instrumental, 1992) Lo-Fi Hi-Fi Hi-Fi (best)
The Other (The Other, my hard rock band, 1998) Lo-Fi Hi-Fi Hi-Fi (best)
Brand New Ground (Caelus, my country rock band, 1979) Lo-Fi Hi-Fi Hi-Fi (best)
Odds 'n Ends (me, 80's - 90's) Hi-Fi (best)
Instrumentals (Jim Minker, keyboards, 1990's) Hi-Fi (best)
Acappela Christmas (Jim Minker, 1995) Hi-Fi (best)

*(An Ogg file encoded at 64kbps sounds better than the same in WMA. The files I encoded in Ogg Vorbis are somewhere between 75-192kbps. However, keep in mind that even a superior streaming format won't make a poor original recording sound any better, so don't let a few songs cause you to question the format. :)
